CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF FEATURE FILMS

The International Jewish Film Festival in Mexico (FICJM), invites producers and filmmakers from all over the world to register their films to participate in the selection of the FICJM.

CONSIDERATIONS

Registrations to the FICJM are free. All the materials are evaluated by a selection committee made up of specialists, academics and filmmakers, chaired by the Programming Coordination and the General Directorate of the FICJM. The committee’s verdict is final.

The committee will evaluate the works taking into account the production values ​​of the film, the contribution and artistic excellence of the work in all its areas (script, direction, photography, acting, music, editing) as well as the presence of some element of the Jewish culture.

The final programming will be defined by the quality of the works and will seek to have the greatest representation of nations and film industries that address the issue of Jewish culture, giving priority to world, Latin American and national premieres.

To be considered, the films must be registered as follows:

– Fill out the registration form available online at www.ficjm.org

The General Directorate of the FICJM will announce the selected films by direct invitation.

– The registered film must have elements that refer to or refer to Jewish culture such as:

TOPIC

International Jewish Film Festival A.C. is a non-profit, governmental or religious association that aims to share the diversity of the culture of the Jewish people through cinema. In this sense, the themes of our films are directly related to those representative aspects of Jewish culture.

So the thematic categories that we consider are the following:

– Memory of the Holocaust: They are related to the holocaust, which occurred in the context of World War II.

– Diversity: Takes up the issue of LGBTTI groups related to the Jewish and Israeli world.

– Contemporary Israel: Its history unfolds or concerns the modern State of Israel.

– Youth: Involve youth and their stories in various contexts of Jewish culture.

– Arab – Israeli conflict: It deals with the conflicts derived from the lack of respect for diversity, the divergence of thought and the integration of cultures.

– Traditions: Talk about the traditions of the Jewish culture and its development through history.

DURATION

The duration of the competing feature films must not be less than 60 minutes nor greater than 150 minutes.

BASES

1.- For this competition section, only those productions, feature films with a minimum duration of 60 minutes and no more than 180, made with a maximum of 5 years old to date and that have not been exhibited in Mexico or in SVOD (subscribe video on demand) platforms that have programming in Mexico.

2.- All the films selected for the FICJM must deliver a clean copy of the Master in original language (only with original plates and credits and without subtitles in any language) in format: Quicktime Apple ProRes (HQ) 1920 x 1080 / 24fps and book of dialogues in English.

3.- Contestants must send a link to the final cut online (with English subtitles) through the registration form. This link must be private and password protected.

4.- Read and accept the conditions of participation stipulated in this call and in the regulations for participants.

REGULATION

To participate in the FICJM, the filmmakers must register their films by filling out the form available on the official website www.ficjm.org, also sending a private password-protected link with the final cut (with English subtitles) for viewing on line.

The registration must be completed by a person or entity accredited by the owners of the film’s exhibition rights, who will act as the production contact. There is no limit on the number of titles that can be registered by the same producer or producer entity.

The inscription of the film will not be considered valid if the registration form is not filled out in its entirety and if a link or a copy is not received for review by the stipulated dates.

The filmmakers who register the film are credited as the authors of the work and holders of the moral and economic rights of the same. Likewise, they ensure that they have the permits and rights of exhibition, reproduction of texts, works, music and other materials subject to the intellectual property and copyright laws used in the recorded film. The filmmakers agree to demarcate the International Jewish Film Festival, A.C. of any responsibility before the possible claim of copyright that may arise from any of the participating films, by third parties.

The films that are selected within the official competition will automatically be protected by the FICJM’s private video library.

If there are doubts about the nationality of any film, the Festival will ask the filmmakers for documentation that certifies its origin, considering aspects such as the nationality of the director and creative team, creditable sources of financing in any country, as well as the country of production.
